The main topic of the XXII RusRisk Professional Forum, held on September 4-5, 2025 in Sochi, was the discussion of new challenges and prospects for the development of risk management in Russia.
The Forum was attended by about 100 managers and risk management specialists from industrial and transport companies, IT integrators, insurance and brokerage organizations, as well as teachers from leading Russian universities, independent experts and media representatives. The panel discussion “Innovations in Insurance and Risk Management”, dedicated to practical issues of improving insurance in Russia, was conducted by Igor Zhuk, National Association of Mutual Insurance Societies, and Andrey Shein, SB Remind.
The key topic of the discussion was the effectiveness of insurance protection and risk mitigation measures. Igor Zhuk spoke about mutual insurance as a tool for organizing insurance protection. Ivan Elfimov, RNPC, introduced new standards for the insurance market, Mikhail Kunin, Insurance Broker Nobilis LLC and Denis Sokolov, Insurance Broker SSG LLC, highlighted significant changes in the personal insurance and VMI market. Alexey Lobanov, Research Center for National Economics of St. Petersburg State University, assessed the prospects for increasing the resilience of the insurance industry to climate risks. Denis Gordienko and Mikhail Dineev, ANO Consortium POPSB, shared their experience of modern approaches to the insurance aspects of fire safety of enterprises and organizations.
The moderator of the panel discussion “Current issues of corporate risk management in Russia” was Alexander Shitov, member of the Board of Directors of Sovcombank. The panelists discussed the current issues of improving the effectiveness of risk management in the corporate governance of Russian companies from different points of view.
Irina Burochkina, Business Solutions and Technologies (DRT) JSC, presented the results of the joint research with RusRisk “Assessment of the maturity of the risk management system in companies in the non-financial sector”. Yuri Kostenko, Sistema PJSC and Irina Andropova, RusRisk, discussed how to cope with the difficulties that risk management faces in the framework of the company’s strategic management.Svetlana Nikulina, Avtodor Group shared her experience in managing cross-functional risks in project implementation. Dmitry Virkunen, PMSOFT Group, presented a case study on how to deal with the lack of up-to-date information about risks and not lose control when transferring risks to the side. Olga Gladysheva, Russian Railways PJSC, spoke about the specifics of project risk management in the implementation of national projects, and Tikhon Strelnikov, TAB LLC, spoke about the new role in risk management in the GRC organization as a platform for combining risk- and opportunity-oriented management approaches with ESG and ISO.
At the end of the first day of the Forum, an interactive discussion “Digitalization of risk management: AI vs Human” was held, moderated by Denis Belyaev, TAB LLC. Leading IT companies presented cases on the implementation of domestic GRC solutions and platforms for quantitative risk assessment. Denis Belyaev spoke about the possibilities of full-fledged risk management on the 1C platform.Varvara Solodilova, IT Holding T1, presented a unified management tool for business, audit and risk management. Alan Tsagolti, Syncretis LLC, demonstrated the functions of the Russian platform for financial and economic modeling and quantitative risk assessment. Nikolay Boltyshev, Interfax Group, shared his experience in automating economic security.
Next, there was an interactive discussion of the moderator’s proposed questions about the advantages and dangers of human-Artificial Intelligence interaction and the place and role of the risk manager in this process now and in the future, with participants voting on the issues discussed. This allowed for an informal and active discussion involving all those present.
The second day of the forum was opened by the round table “Key risks of the real sector of the economy”, hosted by Irina Andropova, RusRisk.The discussion was attended by Yuri Kostenko, PJSC AFK Sistema, Albina Markova, PJSC RusHydro, Alexander Zhukovsky, JSC RK Insurance Broker, Stanislav Yamnikov, JSC Cherkizovo Group, Nina Filippova, LLC RESO Leasing, Anton Vorobyov, LLC FINEX. The participants discussed the integration of risk management into goal setting in the company, the development of risk assessment tools in non-financial companies, and ensuring business continuity.
At the end of the forum, the leaders of RUSRISK spoke about the results of the business season and the plans for the development of the Association’s activities for the coming year. As part of an informal conversation, the Forum participants shared their impressions of the event.
One of the central events of the Forum was the Awarding Ceremony for the winners of the XX anniversary Competition “The Best Risk Management in Russia” in five nominations. The full results of the competition can be found on the RusRisk website.
The Forum clearly demonstrated the high interest of the business community in risk management and insurance issues. The key outcome of the event was an understanding of the need to combine the effective use of international experience with the development of new approaches to solve emerging problems.
