On November 26, Yekaterinburg hosted the URAL 2025 RISK FORUM, an event that brought together representatives of the industry and the insurance community. The forum is dedicated to strategies for the sustainability of industrial enterprises in the face of growing geopolitical tensions, new technological threats and changes in the regulatory environment. The event was opened by Andrey Besedin, President of the Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Anton Samsonov, Director of the Yekaterinburg branch of the VSK Insurance House.
Andrey Besedin stressed: “Today, industrial enterprises are facing an unprecedented level of uncertainty, from geopolitical challenges to technological threats. Our task is not just to identify risks, but to develop effective risk management tools. This forum is a good platform for developing real solutions.”
During the first plenary session, experts discussed a Map of the key risks of the Russian industry for 2025-2026.
Anton Vorobyov, a representative of the RusRisk Risk Management Association, presented an analytical overview of key threats. According to him, experts among the threats that will have the greatest impact on the activities of companies in the medium term include geopolitical instability, stricter legal requirements, including tax, personnel problems, deterioration of macroeconomic indicators and an increase in the number of terrorist and cyber attacks on industrial facilities.
“Industrial enterprises should switch from reactive to proactive risk management — with the participation of special forces, drone equipment and AI analytics,” he advises entrepreneurs.
The participants paid special attention to the new approach to risk insurance “terrorism and sabotage”, which, according to Alexey Zibrin, Vice President and head of the VSK Corporate Insurance Underwriting Center, requires a revision of traditional valuation models.:
“Today, classical underwriting models are no longer able to cope with new challenges. We are working on adapting methodologies that take into account not only the probability, but also the potential depth of damage. VSK is actively involved in the development of a unified insurance protection strategy for critical facilities.”
The URAL 2025 RISK FORUM demonstrated changes in Russian risk management: from reactive measures to a proactive, interdisciplinary strategy. The participants agreed that the future of industrial sustainability lies in the synergy of business, government, insurers and technology companies.
